JGEOR Publishes the “KuraWatch” Special Issue

The Journal of Green Economy and Optimization Research (JGEOR) is pleased to announce the publication of its “KuraWatch” special issue, dedicated to current environmental, socio-economic and management challenges affecting the Kura River and its wider basin.

The special issue brings together research on water quality, water pollution, ecosystem conditions, biodiversity risks, climate-related pressures, environmental monitoring and sustainable river management. Its purpose is to strengthen evidence-based discussion around the major challenges facing the Kura River basin and to promote practical, research-driven approaches to long-term sustainability.

The Kura River represents an important transboundary water system in the South Caucasus and the wider region. In this context, KuraWatch highlights research relevant to Türkiye, Georgia and Azerbaijan, encouraging broader regional perspectives on water security, ecosystem resilience and sustainable resource management.

The issue is designed as an open academic platform for researchers, practitioners, educators and emerging researchers whose work addresses the Kura River and related environmental challenges. Contributions are considered through JGEOR’s editorial and peer-review procedures, with the aim of maintaining academic quality while supporting wider participation in research on shared environmental problems.

For JGEOR, KuraWatch represents more than a thematic publication. It reflects the journal’s commitment to supporting interdisciplinary research on environmental sustainability, water governance and regional ecological challenges, while encouraging cooperation across institutions, disciplines and generations of researchers.

The special issue is published in accordance with JGEOR’s open-access policy, making its content freely available to readers and researchers. JGEOR will continue to develop special issues that address regionally and internationally significant topics and contribute to evidence-based academic discussion.
